Cottage by the Sea

This reminds me of Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. A woman goes through trauma and escapes to a small town and falls for the town recluse.

Annie lost her entire immediate family to a mud slide and has been battling intense grief for a while. She seeks refuge at the cottage by the sea she and her family used to rent every summer. She works in the small town called Oceanside as a physician’s assistant and builds friendships and a relationship. It has the tenants of a Hallmark movie but has some trigger warnings such as death of family members and domestic violence.

Overall I really enjoyed this! It was a cute story with a coveted happy ending. It’s not a beach read in the way that Emily Henry’s books are in that there wasn’t much humor or banter in it, but it did have low stakes conflict and everyone ends up in a good place. My main qualm with this book was Keaton being a pouty puppy dog when Annie got an opportunity to go to med school. Just TALK to her about it, bro!
