Internal Family Systems Therapy

Very interesting and productive way to conceptualize individuals with a system. It essentially views people as having the capability to be fully functional but they also have multitudes and when there is stress or conflict, some of their multitudes or "parts" try to take over and extinguish discomfort or pain in sometimes damaging ways. And when individuals don't have a full understanding of those part or are in control of them, it can lead to self sabotaging as well as familial conflict. IFS espouses the importance of self-awareness. Everyone is going to have problems and flaws, it's just a matter of what they are, are you aware of them and can take accountability for them, and can you communicate them in a healthy way with others.
