Fictional books with Healthy relationships

Representations of healthy relationships are few and far between. My least favorite part of any romance storyline is the inevitable 3rd act breakup over some silly miscommunication. Here’s some books that pleasantly surprised me with how well the couples communicated and didn’t break up over a silly disagreement!

Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

This has the best relationship I’ve read! They communicate well and aren’t afraid to disagree with one another. When they do argue they are never unkind to one another. They also have strong senses of who they are as individuals outside of being a couple. This book is pretty spicy though so if that isn’t for you, be forewarned!

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

This is a lovely story where the FMC has a disability and her partner is supportive and loving while treating her as an equal. They’re also so funny and charming together !

Float Plan by Trish Doller

This is a story of finding love after loss. Anna decides to sail the world just like she and her former fiancé had planned before he unexpectedly died. She meets Keane who never pushes and always supports her grief as her friend first and foremost. This story was a beautiful slow burn.

Tis the Season for Revenge by Morgan Elizabeth

This is a Legally Blonde inspired holiday romance! Very cute but also very spicy!

Wild at Heart by K.A. Tucker

Jonah and Calla are very different but celebrate each other’s differences! They do have quite a few disagreements in the second book, Wild at Heart, but they remain respectful while still being honest with each other and try to find compromise where they can. There were times that I felt like Jonah manipulated Calla into doing things they way he wanted and wasn’t as willing to comprise after she turned her whole life upside down to be with him. However, I liked that Calla pointed it out that she felt that way and he didn’t gaslight her about it after it was pointed out. While neither of them were perfect, they complement one another in a lot of ways and show healthy love.

Children of Fallen Gods, The War of Lost Hearts book 2 by Carissa Broadbent

Max and Tisaanah might be my favorite couple. They navigate really tough things and disagree on big issues but never waver from wanting to do the right thing and support each other.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Rhysand is a feminist king and we love that.
