A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty

Pride and prejudice were the main obstacles in this one. It’s more complex than the classic, but it has its main themes which very well may be part of why I loved it so much. Hot take- but this series has me more hooked than ACOTAR. I am completely addicted to reading this series and am already dreading being halfway through it. I thought this being a complete series was a blessing after the cliffhanger of Iron Flame but now I’m sad it already has an end! A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty was even better than the book 1. I could not put it down. Prisca and Lorian’s banter and chemistry somehow got even better.

At the start of A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty, Prisca and Lorian are not on good terms. Prisca found out at the end of book 1 that Lorian had not been truthful about who he is. Prisca has been taught her whole life to fear the fae and that the Bloodthirsty Prince killed her parents. Lorian has been referred to as the Bloodthirsty Prince so she felt betrayed. Of course we find out later that someone used magic to impersonate Lorian and he never did such a thing. Prisca slowly worked through her prejudice against fae after realizing that Lorian and his gang were kind to her and that he preconceived notions may not be fair. She and Lorian both struggle with pride and not wanting to show the other their hand too much. I’d say by the end of the book Lorian was pretty much over that and didn’t care who knew how obsessed with Prisca he was. Prisca seemed to be almost there but then she went missing! I am on the edge of my seat for her to find out that they’re mates. Even though I know it’s coming and this is a romantasy so they’ll wind up together, I’m still so impatient for it. I think I’m wanting A Court of Mist and Fury chapter 54 kind of happiness for them. I am also scared that we’re going to lose sweet Cavis in book 3.
