Favorite MMCs

These MMCs are my favorites because they still have personalities even after getting into their respective relationships and don't just turn into: eternal heading nodding -yes men. They are all great partners but still have their own goals!

Dorian and Xaden are the most interesting to me personally because of their rebellious nature and morally grey tendencies outside of their close people. Cassian I appreciate for his emotional intelligence which you just don't see in many male characters in romantasy. Xaden does have some communication skills to work on, but he’s still my favorite. I appreciate Maxantarius, Rhysand, and Rowan because they are interesting and feminist kings which we love. If I were to rank these by

I loved Dorian from the get go. He has rizz, charm and has a heart of gold. He wants to do the right thing but isn’t above being cunning to get the job done. He has some great stand out moments: from getting Aelin a puppy for Christmas to his stand out lines:

“You cannot pick and choose which parts of her to love” and “I’ll bleed whatever color you tell me to” to Manon- which they are my favorite romantasy couple EVER and I NEED them to have their own book where they get a happy ending.

Xaden is a bit of a chaotic choice as my number 2, but he’s just my favorite! He’s got Slytherin energy with Gryffindor goals. He is loyal to those he loves and will go to controversial lengths to keep them safe. He’s repeatedly described as ruthless and he is but for worthy causes. He is sort of broody but he’s supportive and also has his own opinions. He always supports Violet without just blindly agreeing with her. He’s also mysterious and complex. I know we’ve only scratched the surface on his character and can’t wait to keep learning about him in future books. I have hope that his communication skills will improve and he told Violet immediately about becoming venin, at the end of Iron Flame, from what I could tell. He’s also so sweet and thoughtful with Violet without being corny! I also basically married a Xaden Riorson so I’m clearly drawn to a Slytherin who is inherently good and kind to their core. I’ll go into this more in my Iron Flame re-read debrief, but him turning venin was the ultimate sacrifice for not only Violet but for the revolution.

Cassian’s intuitive nature along with his undying loyalty make him one of my favorites. He really sees people and understands why they do the things they do. He would honestly make a great therapist in Prythian. He also knows how to be there for people without overly coddling them.

Maxantarius is wonderful. He is the ultimate good guy but still has his own values and ideas of how to do good. He only isn’t higher on the list because I like a little rizz and that’s not really his style.

Rhysand would be ranked higher for me if he would chill with the whole martyr/self-sacrificing thing. I love him and think he’s amazing but he became less interesting after he and Feyre got together. I don’t see him disagreeing with her ever again and that’s just no fun as a reader. I also get bored with characters who lose their edge and go vanilla.

Rowan would’ve ranked higher for me if he still had the spunk he had in Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows. I still have love for him because I know it’s still in him and he’s a great partner to Aelin, but he lost a bit of his personality from Empire of Storms on.
