Glow of the Everflame

Diem, STOP trying to make Henri happen oh my god.

This felt very repetitive. And characters who had terrible communication over and over. Not even miscommunication- just overall incomplete and bad. Diem won’t let people finish sentences that obviously would end in ways that would be helpful for her to hear. Diem frustrated me endlessly. She kept making reckless and impulsive decisions over and over and it got old. I get that she was finding herself and was going through a lot but I lost patience when she would make the same terrible decision for the fifth time.

Henri suckssssss and I’m so ready to stop with pretending he doesn’t!!

The training got boring too. It didn’t even sound like training, just Diem getting pissed off at people trying to help her and then not doing anything productive and storming out.

I really liked the first book. It had a lot of mystery and action and this had almost no action and a lot of Diem’s anxiety. And I do enough of that on my own! I’ll keep reading the series because I really liked the plot the first book introduced and I’m hoping book 3 on will get back to that.

Lastly, poor Andrei. Truly deserved better than the women in his life gave him!

The saving grace for me was the ending! Very intrigued to see how the epilogue plays out.
