Metal Slinger

Ok, it’s now been a few days and I’m ready to talk about this. We finally have a morally gray FMC!!! This pulled the rug out from under me but in the best way. This was so much fun, and I couldn’t put it down. I’d seen on BookTok via Instagram that the ending was wild and wow, it really was. I feel like I’ll need to re-read it to fully wrap my head around how surprising it was.

What I loved about this was how unique it is. While I love your typical romantasy story beats, this subverted those while still hitting all the things I love about romantasy. This is also the first time in a while that the FMC overshadows the MMC (but I still love the MMC). She continuously surprised me and she’s the actual morally grey character and that was refreshing.

The only thing about the ending was it has me wondering if the FMC’s POV was not completely true or if it was just nuanced? Idk I’ll have to re-read it I guess to know fully how I feel about that. Because it cheapens it if her POV just isn’t trustworthy but also looking back-there were warning signs that she wasn’t fully what she seemed. Can’t wait for the next book!
